Schiphol’s “Lounges 1–4” are departure shopping areas, not four paid airline lounges. Airside hotels include YOTELAIR in Lounge 2 and Mercure in Lounge 3. Check Schengen/non-Schengen access first.
Where you can actually stay
Location and access come first. These are researched options, not an exhaustive directory. Use the linked operator for current availability and prices.
| Place & location | Access | Before you book |
|---|---|---|
| YOTELAIR Lounge 2 · after security | Airside | Check the operator’s access instructions for your flight itinerary. |
| Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal Lounge 3 · after security | Airside | Confirm baggage and onward boarding-pass requirements before booking. |
Two airside hotels, two different locations
The airport directory lists YOTELAIR in Lounge 2 and Mercure in Lounge 3. Choosing between them starts with your onward area and access conditions, not simply the phrase “inside Schiphol”.
YOTELAIR in Lounge 2
Confirm the operator’s boarding-pass and baggage instructions for your itinerary. The Lounge 2 label is an airport-area reference, not a paid-lounge membership requirement. Ask how to get back to the relevant pier after the stay.
Mercure in Lounge 3
Use the exact terminal-hotel listing when booking, rather than another Mercure property in the Amsterdam airport region. Confirm that the airside location is reachable and that the room period matches your actual connection.
A public-area hotel is a separate option
If you plan to collect luggage or enter the Netherlands, compare a landside hotel with the complete morning route included. Do not choose an airside room until you know whether you can reach it after baggage reclaim.
Save the property’s access instructions alongside your boarding pass. A generic street-address map is less useful inside a restricted terminal.
Terminals & airport transfers
Choose the route for your itinerary. Public road directions do not describe restricted airport corridors.

Airport transfer route and interactive mapTransfer details
Use Schiphol’s flight-specific transfer advice and interactive map to locate your next gate. Do not interpret transfer-desk numbers such as T2 or T6 as a request to travel to a different airport terminal. Add walking and any passport or security checks before budgeting a lounge visit. Request assistance through your airline when needed.
Know before you settle in
Choose storage on your side of security
Schiphol’s 24/7 Arrivals storage is on level −1 between Arrivals 1 and 2 and accepts larger bags. After security, 24/7 lockers are listed in Lounge 1, Lounge 2 and Holland Boulevard; the stated locker size is 40 × 40 × 70 cm. Collect any public-side stored bag before going back through security. Choose a location you can access on your actual route.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-20Night food in Lounge 1
The airport lists Park Café as open 24/7 after security in Lounge 1, on the route to gates B, C and D59–D87. It is a useful food option if you already have access to this departure area. A non-Schengen connection may involve passport control to reach it; check your gate area before making the trip.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-20Assistance can start before check-in
Request airport assistance through your airline at least 48 hours ahead. Schiphol also describes assistance pickup from the train station, bus stop, taxi stand or car parks when arranged with its assistance provider. Specify the meeting point in advance; a request for help at the aircraft alone does not explain how you will reach check-in.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-20Check the current YOTELAIR closure notice
At our 20 October check, YOTELAIR Schiphol’s official page displayed an essential-maintenance closure for 28–30 October, reopening on 31 October. The notice did not state a year. Confirm your exact stay dates directly with the hotel before including a cabin or shower booking in your layover plan.

Access comes first. Select up to three places to compare. “Not verified” means we have not confirmed a feature; it does not mean the facility lacks it.
| Place & access | Bed / rest | Shower | Families |

| YOTELAIR ↗Lounge 2 · after security · Airside | Private cabin / room | Shower facilities listed; confirm booked product | Family room listed; confirm occupancy and ages |
| Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal ↗Lounge 3 · after security · Airside | Room / sleep product — confirm bed type | Not verified — ask operator | Child admission and occupancy not verified |

Personal checklist & offline guide
Your personal checklist
Choose what applies to your trip. Progress stays on this device for AMS. Checking an item is your own reminder, not an access approval.
A standalone HTML file with your checklist, transfer instructions, facility locations and source notes. It needs no app or login to read offline. Save it before travelling. It contains a snapshot of your ticks; download again after updates.
Choose the right AMS hotel location
YOTELAIR and Mercure provide room options after security. Confirm your itinerary gives access to the correct area and that you do not need to reclaim checked bags before reserving.
Check access before comparing rooms
Schiphol’s “Lounges 1–4” are departure shopping areas, not four paid airline lounges. Airside hotels include YOTELAIR in Lounge 2 and Mercure in Lounge 3. Check Schengen/non-Schengen access first.
Book the hours you will actually use
Give the property your flight arrival time, departure time and terminal. Ask when the room clock starts, whether a delay changes the booking, and whether the booked block includes enough time to reach the room. Compare the total charge for your stay, not a headline nightly rate.
A final check before paying
Do not book a lounge because the boarding pass says “Lounge 2”. That is an airport area, not a paid lounge admission.
- Check guest capacity and the exact child policy for your party.
- Confirm that a shower, private bathroom or bed is included in the product you chose.
- Read cancellation and late-arrival terms on the operator’s booking page.
A few useful answers
What is the most common booking mistake at AMS?
Do not book a lounge because the boarding pass says “Lounge 2”. That is an airport area, not a paid lounge admission.
Can I use facilities in another terminal?
The border between Schengen and non-Schengen areas matters more than a simple terminal number. Follow your destination’s transfer instructions; reaching a hotel or paid lounge in the other area can add passport control or access restrictions.
Are opening hours and prices guaranteed?
No. Use the airport or operator’s current information for your travel date. Prices, availability and access rules may change.
Can I leave the airport during my connection?
For Amsterdam, check the current rail journey and service disruptions before leaving. The airport-to-city rail ride is only one part of the round trip: include entry, walking and the return security process.
