Official access & transfer instructionsTwo very different ways to experience Changi
The airport’s gardens and Jewel are often grouped together in travel articles. For a connecting passenger, they belong in different plans.
A nature break without leaving transit
The Butterfly Garden is in Terminal 3’s transit area on Levels 2 and 3. Changi lists it as open 24 hours. If T3 is on your accessible route, this is a specific alternative to spending the whole wait in a café.
Jewel requires a different decision
Jewel is on the public side. Seeing it from an international connection means checking entry permission, immigration and the journey back to departures. Do not follow an airport attraction list without separating public and transit locations.
Keep a family visit compact
Choose one accessible attraction, a food stop and time for the next gate. Changi has plenty to see, but moving between activities with children and cabin bags can consume the break you hoped to enjoy.
Our planning suggestion: stay within the area you can already use unless there is enough margin for the complete exit-and-return process.
Terminals & airport transfers
Choose the route for your itinerary. Public road directions do not describe restricted airport corridors.
T1 ↔ T2 ↔ T3
Free Skytrain or walking routesThe Skytrain links Terminals 1–3. Changi lists operation from 05:00 until 02:00; walking links remain the alternative outside those hours. Choose the correct side of immigration. A train passing through Jewel does not make Jewel accessible from transit.
Terminal 4 connections
Complimentary shuttle busT4 is not on the Skytrain network. Changi lists transit pickup points at T1 Gate C21, T2 Immigration Hall F and T3 Immigration Hall A, with through-checked itinerary conditions. Public shuttles follow a separate route. Allow for waiting, the ride, checks and walking to the gate; do not use a public walking route for an airside transfer.
Know before you settle in
Public-side storage before a city visit
Changi lists 24-hour baggage storage at Jewel Level 1 near the Early Check-In Lounge, T2 Arrivals North beside the taxi queue, T3 Level 1 near Train to City, and T4 Level 1 near the T4–T2 shuttle. These are public-area locations: international transit passengers must be able to enter Singapore to use them. Keep documents and medication with you.
Official information ↗Checked 2026-10-20A late meal without leaving transit
Changi’s dining guide lists SG Hawker on Terminal 1, Transit Level 3, as open 24 hours daily. It offers several local-food stalls, making it an option for an overnight connection in the transit area. Individual stalls and dishes may have different availability; check before making a long terminal detour.

What matters most at SIN
Stay in transit for an airside hotel. Jewel and YOTELAIR are in the public area: reaching them involves immigration. Choose your terminal and side of the border before booking.
Follow the right transfer route
Follow the transfer signs for your onward flight. Do not follow Arrivals simply to reach a hotel: the transit hotels are before arrival immigration. Check your terminal route in Changi’s transit guide, especially if Terminal 4 is involved.
Where to rest between flights
For a bed without entering Singapore, use a transit hotel in the accessible departure area. The official directory lists 24-hour hotel operations; a room still needs availability and a reservation.
The booking mistake to avoid
Jewel is not an airside attraction. A transit boarding pass alone does not give permission to enter Singapore.
